Herkimer County Public Health is confirming a case of a rabid animal in the county.

Officials say a cow owned in the Town of Stark has tested positive for the rabies virus.

They're reminding residents that all pets and domesticated animals should be kept up to date with their rabies vaccines.

An unvaccinated animal exposed to a positive rabid animal will require a six-month quarantine.
