Herkimer County Public Health is confirming a case of a rabid animal found in Mohawk.

Officials say the skunk was sent to the Wadsworth Lab in Albany, were it was confirmed to be infected with the rabies virus.

Residents are reminded to make sure their pets are up to date with their rabies vaccinations.

Herkimer County Public Health will resume rabies clinics in March.
