Vernon, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Health Department says a skunk found in a barn in the Town of Vernon has tested positive for rabies.

That brings the total number of confirmed cases in Oneida County to six this year.

Health Department officials say while there was no human contact with the skunk. several animals including dogs and cattle were possibly exposed to the virus.

All of the animals, except one, were current on their rabies vaccinations and will only require a rabies booster.

The unvaccinated animal will be quarantined on the farm.

Meanwhile, another Health Department sponsored rabies clinic will held today from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Annsville Highway Garage.
