A Chenango County man, who was convicted of killing his wife, is admitting he tried to bribe a corrections officer to help him escape.

40-year-old Ganesh, "Remy”, Ramsaran of New Berlin pleaded guilty in Chenango County Court to a bribery charge after he had pleaded not guilty to that charge last year.

An expected sentence of 5 to 15 years will run concurrently with the 25 years to life Ramsaran is serving for murdering his wife, Jennifer, in December 2012.

Jennifer’s body was found in a field in Pharsalia months after she disappeared.

At the time, police were told the woman had planned to travel to Syracuse to shop but never came home.

Her vehicle and cell phone were found a few days after she last made contact and a passer-by found her body alongside a road.

During the investigation, her husband made pleas for her return but authorities say they found inconsistencies in his story and arrested him on murder and other charges.

He was convicted in September of last year and sent to a New York State Prison.
