After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, the Rangers were held scoreless the rest of the way as the Kings rallied for a 3-2 overtime win to snatch Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday.

Benoit Pouliot and Carl Hagelin registered goals 1:42 apart in the opening period for New York before the Kings started their rally.

Kyle Clifford scored late in the first period to cut the deficit in half and Drew Doughty tied with the game's only second period goal.

The game winner came off the stick of Justin Williams 4:36 in overtime.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 40 of 43 shots on goal. Jonathan Quick faced just 27 shots, stopping 25.

In the third period, the Kings outshot the Rangers 20-3.

Game 2 is Saturday night in Los Angeles.
