Marion Gaborik slammed the puck between the pads of Braden Holtby 14:41 into the third overtime giving the Rangers a 2-1 win, and a 2-1 series lead over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night (actually, Thursday morning).

It was Gaborik's first goal of the postseason since Game 1 of the Ottawa series. Brad Richards and Dan Girardi assisted on the game winner.

Gaborik and Michael Del Zotto helped Ryan Callahan give the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the second period.

The Caps' John Carlson scored the equalizer about five minutes later, the only shot on goal to beat Henrik Lundqvist, who made 45 saves.

Holtby stopped 47 of the 49  shots he faced.
