The driver of a stolen car did not make it far after passing a toll on the New York State Thruway.

Last Sunday, December 14, 2014, troopers were called to the southbound lane of a toll booth at Exit 20 - the Saugerties exit - of the New York State Thruway at approximately 10:55am after a driver said that she allegedly could not pay a toll.

Minutes later the driver, 22-year-old Amanda J. Robbins of Plattsburgh, was able to pay the toll and did so.  She then drove away.

In the meantime a DMV check had been performed on her car.   Thruway communications officials told the responding trooper that the car the woman was driving had been reported as stolen.

State Police say that the vehicle was located a short time later and Robbins was arrested and brought to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

She is being charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
