The Utica Comets saw their point-streak halted at five games at the hands of the red-hot Syracuse Crunch by a 6-1 final on Wednesday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.

Syracuse's Adam Erne tied the game a 1-1 with two minutes to play in the opening period, then added two goals just two-minutes apart in the third to record a hat-trick. Carter Verhaeghe also scored twice to help Syracuse to its seventh straight win.

Crunch goalie Louis Domingue recorded 24 saves as he won his fifth consecutive start.

Utica's lone goal came from Patrick Wiercioch.

The Comets (10-10-1-1) hit the road to play two at Providence this weekend - on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
