One movie theater chain is hoping to stay out of the headlines and make only positive news.

Regal Cinemas is letting moviegoers know that it reserves the right to check the bags of its patrons for weapons and devices prior to admission.

MetroSource quotes The Regal Entertainment group as saying it wants its "customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working."

The move comes following a rash of movie theater shootings in the past few years.

A theater worker tells WIBX that details of the policy are still being worked out.
