Human remains found inside of a car in the Oswego River have now been identified as those of a woman who had been missing for eighteen years.

Oswego County Sheriffs say the medical examiner's office has now confirmed that the remains are those of Carol Wood.

Wood was thirty years old when she was last seen leaving a bar in Oswego in August of 1996.  It was said that Woods had just had an argument at the bar with a man she had been dating.  She seemingly vanished without a trace until now.

Yesterday, June 18, 2014, Wood's family held a ceremony at the side of the river where the vehicle was found.  The car was partially submerged and covered with mud and mollusks.  The investigation into the cause of death is continuing.

Wood's son was five years old at the time of her disappearance.
