Employees at Remington Arms in Ilion received news on Friday that another 10 days are being removed from next year's work schedule due to projected sales in 2018.

"Based on current demand for our products in 2018, there is the need to remove (10) additional production days from the 2018 production schedule"

The notice went on to say that the Remington team is "working hard to fulfill these days" but it was beneficial for planning purposes to remove the days at this stage of the budget process. Employees who asked not to be identified told WIBX that these days could be added back onto the 2018 production schedule if the business climate improves.

The 2018 dates that will be furloughed are January 22 - January 26 and December 20, 21, 27, 28 and 31st next year.  The notification given to employees stated that the additional furlough days reduces the risk of additional reductions in the work force.

Last week, the company quietly announced that three members of their executive team in sales and marketing management were moving on to pursue other opportunities. Rob McCanna, SVP Global Sales and Marketing; Keith Enlow, SVP GM Ammunition and Leland Nichols, SVP GM Firearms have each exited. Remington CEO Anthony Acitelli will be assuming those responsibilities while they search to fill the positions needed in what is reportedly a restructured marketing and sales department.

On October 24th, Remington announced 11 days that will be furloughed in November and December. During the remainder of this year, workers will be off the job without pay from November 13th through the 17th along with November 20, 21 and 22nd.  They will be given paid holidays at Thanksgiving, November 23rd and 24th. They will return to work on Monday, November 27th.

Phase two of the 2017 furlough is the week between Christmas and New Years. Employees will be furloughed December 27th, 28 and 29th. They will receive company paid holiday on December 23rd and 24th.  They will return to work on January 2, 2018.
