Remington Arms To Close Mayfield, Kentucky Plant

Remington Arms will be closing its plant in Mayfield, Kentucky -- affecting about 200 employees.

In a news release, Remington officials say the operation will be consolidated into their Huntsville, Alabama operation in an effort to become more organizationally focused and competitive.  The two plants are about 250 miles apart.

They say the actual plant closure and transition to Huntsville will take several months

The Mayfield plant has been in operation for nearly 20 years.

There's no word on what affect the plant closing will have on the Remington Arms operation in Ilion.
