Remington Arms has laid off 34 managers and executives nationwide from their plants around the country, according to a source close to WIBX. The cuts come on the heels of 122 workers being laid off last week in Ilion.  It's not known if any management jobs in Ilion were a part of the layoff.

Last week following the Ilion cut, officials said the reduction in workforce was essential in order to “strengthen' their "competitive position.”

WIBX News has reached out to Remington for additional details and we're waiting for a response. An online blog called, "The Truth About Guns" is also reporting that at least one corporate VP resigned in anticipation of the layoffs to pursue other interests.  Check back for an update this afternoon.
