It is back to the chalk board for the residents of Remsen.

The proposed $10.685 million school budget was voted down on Tuesday night.  The polls opened on June 18, 2013 for the second time this year after the initial budget was voted down in May.

Although some were happy with the turnout, others were distressed that fewer than eight hundred people came to vote.  The final vote was 435 against to 305 for it.

A contingency budget now gets put in place while individual budget items are re-worked.  Under this budget the district cannot raise taxes.
