It's being reported that Jeff Hornacek is the new head coach of the Knicks, although the source responsible for breaking the story acknowledges it's not official, and actually may not be done.

The Bleacher Report's Howard Beck tweeted that Hornacek has been tapped as the guy to take over the stumbling franchise. Fifteen-minutes later he clarified with this tweet:


Derek Fisher was fired in February after going 40-96 in his season-and-a-half long coaching debut. New York finished 9-19 under interim coach Kurt Rambis, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season and eleventh time in the past fourteen.

Hornacek played fourteen seasons in the NBA and a has record of 101-112 in two-plus seasons as coach of of the Suns. He was fired from the Phoenix jobs exactly one week before Fisher was dropped by the Knicks.
