Rescue Mission Serving Traditional Easter Dinner This Sunday
Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Rescue Mission of Utica is opening its doors for the second year in a row to celebrate the Easter Holiday with those less fortunate. Executive Director, Reverend Bill Dodge says the aim is to make sure no one goes hungry this Easter. The celebration kicks-off on Sunday, April 24th with an Easter Service at 3:00 p.m., followed by a traditional Easter dinner at 4:00 p.m.
Reverend Dodge said the event is open to the public. “Anybody from the community that would like to come who is in need of a meal that day or who would like to be around others so they aren’t by themselves, and someone who may just want to come for worship service that day. So, anybody in need in the community that would like a hot meal on Easter Sunday is welcome at the Rescue Mission this weekend,” he said. The Mission expects to serve about 400 people.
Reverend Dodge says the Mission is able to provide meals to the homeless and struggling families thanks to the support of the community, and local businesses who help by donating items and sponsoring the event. The Rescue Mission of Utica serves over 130,000 meals to the poor every year. For more information contact the Mission at (315) 735-1645.
