Residents Vote To Dissolve Village Of Barneveld

Residents in the Village of Barneveld have voted to dissolve the Village.

The final tally was 51 yes and 12 no.

The vote means the Village will be become part of the Town of Trenton.

The Village now has up to 180 days to create a dissolution plan.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente issued the following statement on Barneveld's dissolution.

“I would like to congratulate the residents of the Village of Barneveld on their historic decision in yesterday’s vote.  The village overwhelming chose to begin the dissolution process 54-12. I believe wholeheartedly that consolidation and shared services are essential to modernizing government so we can erase duplication and deliver the most efficient services to taxpayers. Removing these duplicative layers of government allows us to keep taxes low and move the community forward.  My administration stands ready to assist the village in any way possible as they move forward in this process.”
