It's a part of Utica's history brought back to life.

A restored 1949 America LaFrance pumper that served the city for almost 40 years until its retirement was presented to the Utica Fire Department today.

Engine Eleven, a local business club dedicated to the welfare of the UFD, found the fire truck ready for the scrap heap.

Ed Welsh of Engine Eleven says they took possession of the pumper in 2001 and began planning its restoration..

The restoration and body work was done by local craftsman L.J. Ree and took about 18 months to complete.

The truck was completely restored through private donations.
