It looks like some people may be getting revenge against a so-called ‘revenge porn’ site.

Authorities in California have arrested Kevin Bollaert, 27, for operating UGotPosted, a website which posted naked photos of people without their permission. The site also included ways to contact the victims through their social media accounts.

Bollaert also piggybacked his site with another venture called changemyreuptation.com, which charged people $300 to get the racy photos removed.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris said UGotPosted needed to be stopped:

This website published intimate photos of unsuspecting victims and turned their public humiliation and betrayal into a commodity with the potential to devastate lives. Online predators that profit from the extortion of private photos will be investigated and prosecuted for this reprehensible and illegal internet activity."

UGotPosted was no small outfit, either – it reportedly had about 10,000 pictures. Victims definitely felt threatened, since Bollaert’s Paypal account showed he had been paid tens of thousands of dollars through changemyreputation.com.

Bollaert's arrest comes on the heels of California passing a law in October prohibiting revenge porn.
