Right on cue, although this time in different colors, Rex Ryan is already throwing around promises and guarantees for the next season. The extent of his guarantees was a bit more measured than in years past, though.

As he was formally introduced as the new coach of the Buffalo Bills, Ryan said he was proud to be with his new team and called it an unbelievable opportunity.

And, without further adieu, told fans about their ongoing 15 year playoff drought ''...get ready man, we're goin.'' He also added, ''Am I gonna guarantee a Super Bowl? I'll guarantee we'll pursue a Super Bowl.''

Ryan, fired after last season's 4-12 campaign with the division rival New York Jets, said the Bills' defense will improve. May be tough, though. They ranked fourth in the league. Ryan then basically said fourth wasn't good enough his team.

''We're gonna be the bully, and we're gonna see if you wanna play us for 60 minutes,'' he said rhetorically in wrapping up his first presser.

During his debut in front of an upstate NY microphone, Ryan also claimed to have been a Bills' fan while living in Toronto for 8 years. Odd he would broach the subject, considering the new owners - Terry and Kim Pegula - seem to be pulling back efforts from the previous owner Ralph Wilson to label the franchise as one who's home is both in Western New York and Canada.

Ryan amassed a 46-50 record in six season with the Jets. He took the team to the AFC Championship game in each of his first two years. From there, the team struggled with a record of 18-30 over his last three years.
