Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino was making his campaign rounds in the Utica-Rome area on Monday.

After meeting with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce Astorino made stops at the Whitesboro Farmer's Market and capped off his trip with a meet and greet at Hart's Hill Inn.

Byron Elias of New Hartford came out to represent Republicans in his town and says he like some of Astorino's plans for New York State.

"I like the idea that he wants to lower the taxes for businesses," Elias said. "And I like the idea that he wants to make zones in other places, other than just around the college campuses that the Governor is currently doing."

Elias said he definitely plans to vote for Astorino when he challenges Governor Andrew Cuomo in November.
