ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A Rochester man will serve just over 12 years behind bars for his role in a conspiracy to traffic cocaine from California into western New York with his brother.

The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday that Shawnta Brown was sentenced to serve 152 months in prison after pleading guilty to armed drug conspiracy and distribution charges in June.

The Department of Justice says Brown and his brother Kenya acquired kilograms of cocaine that they would break down for sale into smaller quantities between 2006 and 2012. The siblings also manufactured crack cocaine for distribution.

The Browns were arrested in March 2012 after law enforcement raided several locations in Rochester that the men used as part of their drug trafficking operation.

Kenya Brown will be sentenced later this month.
