Utica, NY (WIBX) -

Mayor David Roefaro is throwing his support behind Democratic mayoral candidate, Robert Palmieri.

The endorsement at Bagg's Square comes the day before elections are scheduled to take place.

Roefaro said the endorsement isn't strictly along party lines, but rather who is the best person to continue building the city.

"We don't need to have personalities and clashes; we don't need that," Roefaro said. "We need to move forward. So when you have a disagreement or if you have a change of heart or if you have whatever it may be, we need to move Utica forward. Rob is the guy to do that."

Palmieri worked as the Codes Chief under Mayor Roefaro's administration until his dismissal this past January.

Polls open tomorrow morning at 6 and will close at 9 pm.
