Two local high school bands have a great deal of which to be proud following the New York State Field Band Conference Championship this past weekend.

Rome Free Academy earned a second place finish overall in its class (LS3 / Large School 3) with a score of 84.90 compared to first place finisher West Seneca whose team scored an 85.65.

Jacob Meiss, Director of Bands at RFA, says, "We’re thrilled!  This is only our fifth year competing - that’s our highest placement so far in finals, and the highest score we’ve ever earned."

In the SS1 class New Hartford Senior High School scored third with a score of 88.95, behind first place East Syracuse - Minoa and second place finisher Medina.

The championship took place at the Carrier Dome in Syraacuse on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

Victor Senior High School won first place in the National class lineup with a score of 98.40.
