The Rome Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees has voted to suspend affiliation discussions with Bassett Medical Center and explore other options.

Three years ago, the hospital board made the decision to explore opportunities to collaborate with other organizations to prepare for the changing healthcare environment.

In November of 2013, Rome Memorial Hospital signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore an affiliation agreement with Bassett.

President and CEO Basil Arigilo says while moving through the process, it became apparent that the relationship with Bassett would not satisfy the objectives of the hospital or they people they serve.

Arigilo says they will renew discussions with other organizations, who have continued to express interest in collaborating with RMH to strengthen the continuum of care for the community.
