A Rome man is under arrest after a car-crash caused a massive power outage.

According to Detective Commander James Boyer of the Rome Police Department, 23-year-old Devin Apgar of Rome was allegedly driving his Ford Explorer when he crashed into a utility pole.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Gansevoort Avenue and Seneca Street. As a result of the crash, a power outage occurred in the area and the pole transformer caught fire. The fire was put out and power restored within the hour.

Apgar was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and will appear in Rome City Court at a later date.
