A Rome man is facing rape charges after an investigation by Oneida County Child Advocacy Center officials.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 47-year-old Edward Wittmann allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a girl who was less than 17 years old.

A restraining order against Wittmann has been issued to protect the victim, and the victim has been offered services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

Wittmann was charged with third-degree rape and sent to the Oneida County Jail on $30,000 bail.
