A Rome man has been arrested following an 11 month investigation into the theft of a firearm.

New Hartford Police say 33-year old Richard Neidl allegedly stole a gun from a sporting goods store in New Hartford in March of 2016.

They say Neidl is a former employee at the store and had access to the area where the firearm was being stored.

Neidl is charged with grand larceny.

Police say the firearm was recovered during the execution of a search warrant in regards to an unrelated investigation in Rome.

The New Hartford Police were assisted by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Rome Police Department.
