Rome Man Charged With Assaulting 2-Year Old

A Rome man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 2-year-old son.

Rome Police have charged 24-year old Brandon Shugars with assault, criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Police discovered the child's injuries while responding to a domestic dispute.

They say an investigation revealed that Shugars had picked the child up by his ears and slammed his head through sheetrock after the 2-year old went to the bathroom on the floor.

The child suffered multiple scrapes and bruises to the side of his face and head.

The boy was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for treatment.
