Rome Man Facing Drug Charges

An investigation into a suspicious package has led to the arrest of a Rome man on drug charges.

Rome Police say an officer stopped to talk to a man who was walking along Culverton Avenue carrying a large gym bag.

They say 28-year old Nicholas Rotolo threw the bag and ran into a wooded area.

Police say the bag contained an active meth production lab.

Rotolo was taken into custody at a nearby vacant apartment.

He was charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
