A Rome man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the July 2014 stabbing death of his estranged wife.

According to CNY Homepage.com, an Oneida County jury deliberated for parts of two days before finding 47-year old Chris Werenski guilty.

The defense tried to convince jurors that while Werenski did stab his wife Carrie, it was not his intention to kill her.

Werenski will be sentenced on May 26th.
