Rome, NY (WIBX) - Rome Memorial Hospital is the top-rated hospital in the region for patient safety.

That's according to a analysis published in the August edition of Consumer Reports magazine.

The safety score was based on six categories, including infections, readmissions, complications and mortality.

President and CEO Basil Ariglio says Rome Memorial had better scores than hospitals like the Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General.

Ariglio says the hospital was one of only 13 hospitals in the state to earn the top rating for preventing infections in the ICU and post surgical infections.
