Rome Native Honored As Airman Of The Year

From Congressman Richard Hanna's Office

Washington, DC (WIBX) – A Rome native has been named the Air Force Times “Airman of the Year.”

Master Sgt. Brandon Lambert was honored at a ceremony in Washington, DC and was escorted by Congressman Richard Hanna.

While deployed to Afghanistan, Lambert and his squad helped move wounded troops into hospitals and onto medical aircraft.

The experience gave Lambert the idea for a volunteer project.

He started a penny-a-push up fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, which has raised more than $4,500.

Lambert is based at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida.
