Rome, NY (WIBX) - An Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy suffered a broken leg during a scuffle with a suspect early this morning. Officials were responding to a domestic dispute call on 7144 Coleman Mills Road in Rome when, 44-year-old William R. Moore Jr., allegedly pushed one of the deputies attempting to take him into custody. Police say they had to use a taser to subdue Moore.

Moore, of Unadilla, NY is charged with:

  • Assault in the Second Degree a Class D Felony
  • Resisting Arrest a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Harassment in the Second Degree which is a Violation

Moore was arraigned in Floyd Town Court and sent to Oneida County Jail on $25,000 cash bail. The injured officer's name is not being released. Officials say he was treated at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica.
