Rome Police are continuing their investigation into the case of a 10-month old Rome girl who suffered serious injuries to her head and eye.

Police say there was an active order of protection in place, ordering the child's father, 22-year old Nicholas Lusby, to stay away from the child's mother.

Lusby was taken into custody for violating the protection order.

He's also facing charges relating to a theft which happened in Rome earlier this year.

Investigators say the nature of the infant's injuries and the information provided to police on how the child became injured raised suspicion.

The child is in critical condition at a Syracuse hospital.

There have been no arrests made in the case.
