Rome Police K9 ‘Arko’ To Receive Protective Vest

The Rome Police Department’s K9 "Arko" will receive a bullet and stab protective vest, thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The group was established in 2009 to provide law enforcement agencies with potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged officers.

Arko’s vest is sponsored by an anonymous donor and will be embroidered with the sentiment, "Honoring those who served and sacrificed"

The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.

Each vest costs between $1,700 and $2,200..

Delivery of the vest is expected within eight to ten weeks.
