Rome Run/Walk Kicks Off Heart Assocation Fundraising

Rome, NY (WIBX) - More than $22,000 has already been raised for the America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk event happening next month at Utica College.

The 8th Annual Rome Indoor Run/Walk has held Saturday at Rome Free Academy with more than 215 particpants, according to Andrea MacDiarmid, corporate events director for the local office of the American Heart Association.

"Anybody that registered at Rome Free Academy on Saturday is already registered for the Utica walk and can just show up and particpate again," Macdiarmid said. "All the money raised on Saturday goes toward the grand total of our goal of $1.2 million."

That is the goal of the event at Utica College on March 5th.

The 40th Annual WIBX Heart Radiothon is happening March 4th and 5th at Utica College.
