Rome Teen Arrested on Felony Identity Theft Charges

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department has arrested 16-year-old Anthony M. Cruz of Rome on Identity Theft charges. The arrest comes as a result of a two month investigation into Cruz who allegedly used two different credit card numbers to make purchases equaling $1,000.

The alleged theft occurred with online, and local business purchases between September 20th, 2016 and October 30th, 2016 while Cruz was staying in the City of Sherrill. The Sheriff's office says Cruz was cooperative during the investigation and arrest process. Cruz was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to Sherrill City Court on a later date.
