The City of Rome conducted a table top exercise today to test its newly developed Emergency Storm Operations Plan.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo say the plan is being implemented to coordinate the response of various city departments in the event of severe weather.

"With summer upon us, we must ensure we have a strategic structure in place to adequately coordinate storm response employing our vast resources around the city" said Izzo.

The exercise tested activation of the Emergency Operations Center at Rome's Central Fire Station on Black River Boulevard.

The  scenario featured a summer thunderstorm that affected a path across the city.
