Salisbury, NY (WIBX) – State Police are investigating a snowmobile accident that happened yesterday morning in a wooded area off Jersey Field Road in Salisbury.

Troopers say 51-year old James Sweet of Poland was operating his sled at an unsafe speed when he struck a tree.

Sweet, who was alone at the time, attempted to walk to get help when a homeowner assisted him and called 911.

He was airlifted to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
