Republican Utica Mayoral candidate Ernie Sanita is accusing his primary opponent of lying to the public.

Sanita says former Mayor Lou LaPolla's claim that the Hanna administration sold the city's water board and other assets is not true. He also says LaPolla should have put the issue up for a public vote.

Sanita provided the media with 37-pages of documents to support his claims.

Meawnhile, Lou LaPolla is responding to Sanita's claims.

He says legal sources indicated there was no need for a referendum. LaPolla also says while a plan for regionalization was developed in 1993, the transfer of the water board happened during the Hanna years, after he left office.

Lapolla and Sanita will meet in the September 10th GOP Primary.
