The president of a school board in New York's capital region has resigned following his arrest.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office Charles "Chip" Locke was arrested earlier this week, charged with allegedly stealing almost ten thousand dollars from the Greenfield Elementary School Home School Association and falsifying business records in an alleged attempt to cover up the crime.

Locke has resigned from the board.  An interim president has not been named although sources say that JoAnne Kiernan, who is the board's Vice President, is expected to assume leadership of the board until a formal announcement is made.

He is scheduled to appear in court next month to answer the charges.
