Sassy The Bloodhound Helps Locate Missing Herkimer Man

"Sassy" got her man.

With the assistance of Trooper Michael Petrie and her handler, Trooper Jesse Davis, Jr., New York State Police K-9 officer "Sassy" located a missing Herkimer man after searching a marsh area near Dairy Hill Road in Norway, New York.

A 48-year old man who is not being identified at this time ventured into the woods away from his camp on Sunday, November 3, 2013 after leaving a note saying that he was going to hurt himself.  After family members told State Police what happened a search was begun with patrols and helicopter along with the NYSP Bloodhound Unit.

About four hours later Sassy and the team found the man in the water.  He was said to be despondent and cold, but otherwise ok.  He is undergoing a mental health evaluation.
