School District Merger Vote Takes Place Today
Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - Should three Mohawk Valley school districts become one?
Residents in the Herkimer, Ilion and Mohawk School Districts will decide that issue today.
An advisory referendum or straw vote is taking place today.
If the referendum is approved, a binding or final vote will take place on October 18th.
Should all three communities vote yes, the merger would take effect next school year.
A proposed four district merger went down to defeat in January when residents of the Frankfort-Schuyler School District voted no.
Polls will be open today from noon to 8:00.
