Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer along with Congressman Richard Hanna are calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to approve a new Wetland permit for the site being developed by Mohawk Valley EDGE.

The proposed site would attract the computer chip fabrication industry which could host several thousand new jobs for the area.

The problem in the past has been that there is no end user in place for the site, but the new application lists the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering as the end user, which fulfills the Army Corps requirement.

According to EDGE, several international computer chip companies are interested in the site.
