Schumer to Disclose Details about Drones

ROME, N.Y. (AP) — Sen. Charles Schumer is heading to central New York to provide details about the state's role as one of six sites in the nation selected by the Federal Aviation Administration to test unmanned aircraft.

Schumer will be at Griffiss Airport in Rome Friday morning and at Manley Field House in Syracuse in the afternoon to announce the first client to begin drone testing.

Schumer says he'll also call on the FAA to select the central New York site to be one of the first few brought into operation.

An alliance of more than 40 public, private and academic organizations in New York and Massachusetts will operate the Rome site. Hancock Air Field in Syracuse and Jefferson County's Fort Drum will play integral roles in the project.
