Utica, NY (WIBX) - You may soon be able to visit to New York City in less time, and for less money.

Senator Schumer is urging the Federal Department of Transportation today, to speed up the process on a deal that could boost air service from Syracuse to New York City.

The deal between Delta and US Airways would replace prop-planes with bigger and faster jets, and more seats.

"Better air travel between Syracuse and the Big apple would be great for business, job development, tourism, and a boost for Central New York," said Schumer. "We need to get this done quickly."

If the deal is approved, Schumer pledges to work with the two airlines to boost service in Syracuse.
