Utica, NY (WIBX) - Sculpture Space is rolling out its 35th Anniversary CHAIRity Auction. The event is taking place on Saturday, October 1st at Sculpture Space in Utica. Organizers say the event is an opportunity for the public to bid on art in the form of chairs and many other artworks created by local, national and international artists.

Executive Director at Sculpture Space, Sydney L. Waller, says the fundraiser is to support the unique Artist-in-Residence program--The only one of its kind in North America. "And, we've always run on a very lean budget, but now it's even more austere. So, CHAIRity is a major effort to raise funds to support the program so that we can continue to both serve the community and attract artists here from around the word," she said.

She says the funds also support other efforts such as, repairs and upgrades to equipment, housing for the artist, as well as, community programs. On Saturday, October 1st, The 22nd Annual CHAIRity Auction kicks off at 4:00 p.m. with a preview of auction items. There will also be a cash bar from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and live entertainment from alumni artists.
