ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will be touring a machine tool plant in Albany to talk about her bipartisan "Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act" legislation.

Gillibrand says the legislation would bolster the manufacturing industry in Albany and across upstate New York by creating a permanent program designating "Manufacturing Communities."

The designation would put those regions at the front of the line for federal economic development funding specifically for investing in manufacturing.

Gillibrand is slated to tour the Simmons Machine Tool Corporation in Albany at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. She has a similar event earlier at the Alpha-En headquarters in Westchester County.
