46th District state senate candidate George Amedore met with Unshackle New York and the business council on Monday to re-affirm their stand against a 45 percent toll hike for truckers on the thruway.

The hike was to go into effect Oct. 1 but has been delayed. Amedore, currently an Assemblyman, said taxpayers should not have to pay for the thruway authority’s years of mismanagement.

He claimed a 45 percent toll hike would make it difficult for small, independent truckers to afford to stay in business. Ultimately, the increase would be passed on to consumers who buy merchandise shipped on the thruway.
